Legal Fees Calculator 

LEGAL FEES CALCULATIONS-based on solicitors' remuneration order 2006
The scale fees are as follow and applied to Sale and Purchase Agreement / Memorandum of Transfer and Loan Agreement :
Consideration / adjudicated value (market value) Scale of Fees
For the first RM150,000 1.0% (subject to a minimum fee of RM300)
For the next RM850,000 0.7%
For the next RM2,000,000 0.6%
For the next RM2,000,000 0.5%
For the next RM2,500,000 0.4%
Where the consideration or adjudicated value is in excess of RM 7,500,000 Negotiable on the excess (but shall not exceed 0.4% of such excess)
For example:
 
If the property price is RM550,000, the calculation is:
First RM150,000 @ 1% RM1,500
Next RM400,000 @ 0.7% RM2,800
Total Legal Fee RM4,300

If the property price is RM12 million, the rate above RM7.5 million is negotiable between the law firm and the client. If say the negotiated rate is 0.3% the calculation is:
First RM150,000 @ 1% RM1,500
Next RM850,000 @ 0.7% RM5,950
Next RM2,000,000 @ 0.6% RM12,000
Next RM2,000,000 @ 0.5% RM10,000
Next RM2,500,000 @ 0.4% RM10,000
Next RM4,5000,000 @ 0.3% (negotiated rate) RM13,500
Total Legal Fee RM52,950

*the scale fee above applied to Principal Fees only. Example for a Sale and Purchase Agreement, the said fees is only for SPA, if the law firm acting for Purchaser, they have to fill up and submit CKHT 2A for Purchaser; if the law firm acting for Vendor, they have to submit CKHT 1A and/or CKHT 3, prepare discharge of charge and consent to transfer whichever is applicable. Other cost such as disbursements and reimbursements charges is varies for case to case basis.

For Loan Agreement, please note that this scale fee is applied to Principal Agreement only, there is subsidiaries documents such as Deed of Assignment, Power of Attorney, Letter of Guarantee, Deed of Assignment of Rental Proceeds and etc which is subject to 10% on Principal Legal Fees, minimum fee of RM300 and maximum of RM1000.
